Billie Eilish pinned as racist: I'm appalled and feel like throwing up for saying that word

Billie Eilish is one of those new artists who fights against racism and any form of discrimination. However, an old video dating from her 13 years shows her pronouncing the word Chink, an anti-Asian insult particularly offensive.

Billie Eilish is at the heart of a scandal. An old video of the singer circulates on which we see her at 13 years pronouncing the word Chink. This word is a particularly offensive anti-Asian insult. She repeated this term heard in the song Fish by Tyler the Creator.

In a post, the star explained: There is a video montage circulating about me when I was 13 or 14 years old, where I say a word in a song that I didn't know at the time was a derogatory term used against members of the Asian community. I was appalled, embarrassed and felt like throwing up for saying that word. This song is the only time I have ever heard that word because it has never been used around me by anyone in my family. No matter how ignorant I was or how old I was at the time, there is no excuse for the fact that it was hurtful. And for that, I am sorry.

Billie Eilish continues to promote inclusion, kindness and tolerance. We all need to continue to have these conversations, listen and learn, she concludes.
