Britney Spears apologizes to fans: Pretending I was fine really helped

Saying she was depressed and traumatized, singer Britney Spears asked a Los Angeles court on Wednesday to lift the guardianship she has been under since 2008 due to psychological disorders, and which deprives her of much of her autonomy. After the hearing during which she spoke in an interrupted manner for more than twenty minutes, the singer was keen to address her fans in a long message published on her Instagram account.

I just want to let you in on a little secret, begins the star, who just wants to take back control of her life. I think we all want a fairy tale and the way I post, my life seems to be pretty amazing. I think that's what we're all looking for. That was one of my mom's best traits. No matter how crappy a day was when I was younger, for the sake of me and my siblings, she would always pretend everything was fine. I bring this to your attention because I don't want people to think my life is perfect, because it's not at all. And if you've heard anything about me on the news this week, you really know that it's not the case.

The star goes on to say that she wants to apologize for pretending that everything was fine for the past two years. I did it out of pride and I was embarrassed to share what happened to me, but honestly, who doesn't want their Instagram put in a bit of a fun light. Believe it or not, pretending I was okay actually helped.

Many fans have once again expressed their support for the star.
