Kim Kardashian in court after cryptocurrency promotion

Several U.S. celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, are facing charges in court from investors who claim they were duped into investing in a cryptocurrency.

According to a complaint filed in a Los Angeles court, Kim Kardashian was allegedly paid to tout EthereumMax, enticing investors to take an interest in the cryptocurrency, which eventually lost much of its value. Kim Kardashian alone has 250 million followers on Instagram.

Other celebrities, such as boxer Floyd Mayweather, are named in the complaint.

According to the plaintiffs, EthereumMax has proven to be extremely speculative and unrelated to Ethereum, the second largest cryptocurrency in the world behind Bitcoin.
