Melinda and Bill Gates divorce: who are their three children, Jennifer, Rory and Phoebe?

After twenty-seven years of marriage, Melinda and Bill Gates announced their separation. Together, they had three children, Jennifer Katherine, 25, Rory John, 21, and Phoebe Adele

That's it, it's over. On Monday, May 3, on Twitter, Melinda and Bill Gates announced that they were separating after twenty-seven years of marriage. "After much reflection and much work on our relationship, we made the decision to end our marriage," the founder of Microsoft said on the social network, adding: "We no longer believe that we can grow together as a couple in the next phase of this life."Melinda and Bill Gates were married on January 1, 1994. Since then, they have shared their personal and professional lives. Melinda Gates was marketing manager at Microsoft when they met, and she stayed in the company after their marriage. They also created the Bill and Melinda Gates Philanthropic Foundation together in January 2000."We continue to share a belief in this mission and we will continue our work together at the foundation," said Bill Gates. "Our family is starting to navigate a new life," concluded the second largest fortune in the world. With Melinda, Bill Gates had three children: Jennifer Katharine, born in 1996, Rory John, born in 1999, and Phoebe Adele, born in 2002.

Jennifer, Rory and Phoebe will not inherit their parents' fortunes

Children that Melinda and Bill Gates raised, contrary to what one might think, without technology. They only had access to a computer 45 minutes a day before their adolescence and were not allowed to have a phone until the age of 14. So it's only been a short time since Phoebe, 18, had her own smartphone. The young woman is currently in the same private school that her elders attended. After high school, Rory, 21, left the family home for Duke University, North Carolina, where he graduated in computer science and economics. He is now completing a master's degree in business administration. The eldest, Jennifer, 25, took courses in human biology at Stanford University, California, before following her passion for horseback riding. "I always thought I would be an amateur and go to medical school or pursue another career," she said in 2018 as she went on to win Grand Prix. In January 2020, she announced her engagement to 29-year-old Egyptian rider Nayel Nassar, whom she met four years earlier at Stanford University. Melinda and Bill Gates' three children will not inherit the vast majority of their parents' fortunes. The founder of Microsoft assured that he would leave "only" $10 million to each of his children, giving the rest to associations.
