Singer B.J. Thomas died of cancer

The American singer Billy Joe B.J. Thomas, known among other things for the song Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head, died at the age of 78 from lung cancer, U.S. media reported Saturday, including entertainment site TMZ.

B.J. Thomas broke through with the hit Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head - the soundtrack to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - but he also made his mark earlier with the love song Hooked on a Feeling, which sold more than one million singles. He also sang the title song of the TV series Growing Pains. His other hit songs include Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song, Rock and Roll Lullaby, I Just Can't Help Believing and Whatever Happened to Old-Fashioned Love.

In March 2021, B.J. Thomas announced on his Facebook page that he had lung cancer. He was undergoing treatment at a Texas hospital, but passed away over two months later at his home in Arlington, Texas. The singer is survived by his wife and three daughters.
