The series Friends mourns the death of an iconic actor
Sad news, this Sunday evening, for the fans of the series Friends. The actor James Michael Tyler, who made a name for himself thanks to his role as the manager of the Central Perk coffee shop, lost his fight against prostate cancer.
The actor of Friends went in peace in his house in Los Angeles this Sunday morning, announced his relatives, according to a news of TMZ. He was 59 years old. He was an incredible person who spent his last days helping others, said on Twitter Kevin Bright, the producer of the cult sitcom that revealed James Michael Tyler to the public. God bless you James, Gunther lives forever.
Last June, James Michael Tyler announced publicly that he had been suffering from stage 4 prostate cancer for three years and that the disease had already attacked his bones. If the doctors were quite confident at the time of diagnosis, the Covid-19 made everything change: I missed a checkup, which was not a good thing apparently, he had said in the Today show, adding that he knew he was doomed. The cancer decided to mutate during the pandemic so it progressed well.
The actor had made a virtual appearance at the reunion between the various actors of Friends a few weeks ago, without mentioning his illness. It was my decision to appear only via Zoom. I didn't want to be the bearer of bad news he explained, still on the Today show. I didn't want to say, 'Oh by the way! Gunther has cancer'!
James Michael Tyler is survived by his wife, Jennifer.
